Lebanese Ceasefire Recap Day 3

On the third day of the ceasefire coming into effect, the Lebanese Army said it was reopening key roads and partially restored bridges in the south, with further repairs underway after damages from Israeli strikes in recent weeks.

According to the IDF, more than 1800 alleged Hezbollah operatives had been killed in Lebanon since the fighting escalated amid the Iran war.

Israel’s IDF claimed the 162nd Division had killed more than 250 alleged Hezbollah members, dismantling over 405 infrastructure sites and located upwards of more than 1,000 weapons and munitions in southern Lebanon, south of the forward defence or yellow line.

An infographic from the IDF showed the Israeli-controlled security zone in southern Lebanon, and also showed that Naval forces were operating off the Lebanese coast.

Progress in talks over Iran’s regional proxy funding, with discussions ongoing, while Tehran seeks to maintain what it describes as ‘non-military’ support to the likes of Hezbollah.

Tasnim News reported that Israel’s army had violated the ceasefire in Lebanon by carrying out a series of explosions in several villages of southern Lebanon.

Warfront Witness later stated the IDF continued to demolish multiple buildings across the Bint Jbeil area as multiple explosions were heard by locals, and Israeli drones continued to fly at low altitude over the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.

Explosions were reported in the town of Taybeh, southern Lebanon, which is in the yellow line where the IDF is currently operating.

Lebanon’s Armed Forces announced they’d removed an earthen barrier that had been placed by the Israeli army on the al-Mari – Ain Arab road, and continued the rehabilitation works of the Tayr Falsiyeh bridge which was also struck during the war.

The Litani authorities announced the beginning of construction work of 2 new bridges and repair works on existing bridges with the Lebanese army involved.

Jewish media were hinting at a resumption of attacks on Lebanon after a series of security incidents occurred in southern Lebanon and the Israeli Army, and it was clear that the Israeli army were eager to attack, possibly intending to carry them out in the near future or at the end of the ceasefire period, reported War Spectators.

One soldier killed and 9 others injured on Saturday:

During an operation by a force from the 7106th Battalion in the village of Kfar Kila near Metula, an engineering vehicle (D-9) belonging to the force struck an explosive device allegedly planted by Hezbollah.

An additional combat force that was also nearby to secure the site was also affected by the explosion.

One soldier was killed and nine others injured from the 769th Hiram Brigade, including one seriously, four moderately, and four lightly, who were evacuated to receive treatment at the hospital, and the Israeli army is still investigating the timing of when the device was planted at the site.

One soldier killed and 3 others injured on Friday:

At around 12:00 noon on Friday, the soldiers from the 7056 Batallion operating in the village of Jibbin entered to carry out a sweep operation inside a building, and during the search an explosive device which had been planted in the area had been triggered and exploded.

According to the initial investigation, the Israeli army estimated the device was placed there before the ceasefire, so it wasn’t classified as a violation, but the army was still investigating the mechanism by which the device was triggered, and why it was not discoverable earlier before the soldiers entered the building.

The soldier who was killed had sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries, while three other soldiers who were present sustained moderate and light injuries.

Desecration of a Jesus Monument:

Israel’s IDF confirmed the authenticity of a video that circulated showing an Israeli soldier smashing the head of a Jesus Christ statue in Lebanon, stating that ‘appropriate measures would be taken against those involved.’

“Following the completion of an initial examination regarding a photograph published earlier today of an IDF soldier harming a Christian symbol, it was determined that the photograph depicts an IDF soldier operating in southern Lebanon.

“The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasizes that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops.

“Appropriate measures will be taken against those involved in accordance with the findings.

“Furthermore, the IDF is working to assist the community in restoring the statue to its place.

The IDF is operating to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure established by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and has no intention of harming civilian infrastructure, including religious buildings or religious symbols.”
