Baghaei addresses Omani talks, foreign media disinformation, and condemnation for Israel’s continued attacks on southern Lebanon

⚡️ Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Saturday that Tehran were in talks with Oman to finalise the text of a joint statement that they expect to issue soon, and that an agreement had been reached with Oman regarding the map of the shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

🔹 Baghaei said the talks with Oman began almost simultaneously with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to end the war and had made progress in the past three weeks, having agreed on the route, but said interference from the United States has prevented the agreement from being finalised.

🔹 According to the spokesman, determining the new route was a technical matter that involved security and environmental considerations, stating that all relevant bodies and defence organisations had been involved in the outcome, but added any agreement with Oman did not mean an immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

🔹 Baghaei also warned the Iranian media not to be ‘conduits and translators’ of news and reports from foreign media, noting that it is essential to verify the news, especially regarding reports about which Iran itself has firsthand sources, while foreign media have repeatedly been proven liars when discussing various topics.

🔹 Condemnation was also given toward Israel for attacks in various areas of Lebanon, including Nabatieh al-Fouqa and Deir al-Zahran, stating that the attacks resulted in the death of 11 people, including three children and two women who came from the same family, while others were also injured, and destruction was caused to civilian and residential areas.

🔹 Baghaei referred to the continued military aggression against Lebanon and the violation of the country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressed regret over the continued silence and inaction of the United Nations Security Council in the face of blatant violations of international law and international human rights law.

🔹 The spokesman emphasised the need to stop the aggressive actions of the Israeli regime in southern Lebanon and for an immediate withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories.
