Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar yesterday assured Saudi Arabia that an existing peace pact was in existence and that there was a strong mutual defence offered as a result, warning Iran that Pakistan could get involved.
“We have a strategic mutual defence agreement with Saudi Arabia, the whole world is aware of it, it’s a sovereign agreement, and we’re bound by it,” the minister said.
Dar continued: “Keeping in mind, I immediately sensitised our brothers in the Iranian leadership from Saudi Arabia, urging them to please keep that in view – they requested certain assurances, asking me to inform them that their soil should not be used for any attacks, I secured and provided those assurances.
“Alhamdulillah, you observed that there was minimal reaction against Saudi Arabia and Oman, while there was activity involving Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain.”
