Lviv Tackled The Consequences Of Russia’s Attack Yesterday

Day was just breaking in Lviv yesterday as air raid alerts rang out across the region, followed by the sound of explosions as Russian missiles and drones targeted the regions underground gas storage supply and other infrastructure.

Thick smoke was clearly visible following the attack, later clarified to be the result of burning tires in a civilian warehouse premises by Mayor Sadovyi, adding that the situation didn’t pose any immediate health threat at the time.

Meanwhile the head of LOVA Kozytskyi reported that damage had been caused to a woodworking enterprise, a warehouse building, and a fire was being extinguished at one of the sites, but there weren’t any casualties or injuries.

The nature of the fire with the tires was difficult for the emergency services to extinguish, as they worked throughout the night and into this morning tackling the ongoing blaze, while nearby residents were asked to keep windows and doors closed for safety measures yesterday afternoon.

Suspilne investigated the consequences of the attack on the region, reporting that a new branch of Ukrposhta and 900 parcels had been destroyed in the attack, according to the General Director of Ukrposhta.

Lviv City Council also had to urge residents not to use elevators during alerts, because yesterday morning around 20 people were stuck in elevators when emergency power outages had been applied.

Last night the firefighters reported they were still extinguishing the fire of the warehouses, closing off some streets so they could continue their work, while the air quality was close to normal, according to Deputy Mayor Andriy Moskalenko.
