Kherson situational update for January 27

Russian attacks led to a man being killed in the region, along with residential buildings being damaged, as the local police documented the consequences.

Both the Kherson and Beryslav districts were once again under attack by the Russians, carrying out strikes of residential quarters using artillery, mortars, and various types of drones.

Police reported that a man was killed by an explosion by a UAV in the Dnipro district of Kherson, and they were in the process of establishing his identity, noting the district also came under attack from mortars and artillery.

Yesterday morning, Russia directed a drone strike at a multi-story building in the Tavriysky microdistrict, resulting in damage to the roof and windows, and in the afternoon, an attack on the residential quarters in the North microdistrict with a strike drone that damaged two private houses and a garage.

According to Voloshin, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Defence Forces, the Russian military had left positions on Alexyevsky Island near Oleshky in the region, noting that the reason was the active actions of Ukrainian units and the low moral along with the psychological state of the occupiers: “Our intelligence confirmed this – we struck there and they understood it perfectly,” Voloshin said.

Residents noted that there were videos of the moment of arrival as a daytime attack on residential quarters in the Shipyard district damaged windows, building walls and fences, but fortunately one resident’s relatives, who were at home, managed to survive.

One of the educational institutions in the Central District of Kherson also came under attack, which isn’t the first time Russia had deliberately targeted the institution.

Social workers from the Kherson CMA promptly went to the sites, talked to the victims and provided necessary consultations, while employees of the Kherson RSA had already partially eliminated the consequences of the attack.

Kherson State Emergency Services noted that due to the non-stop attacks, a fire broke out at a three-story residential building, which was quickly engulfed in flames, as rescuers who arrived at the scene began to eliminate the consequences while operating under the constant threat of repeated attacks by Russian drones.
