KHARKIV MORNING REPORT – Oct 20

Rescuers were called out twice to inspect sites after impacts, according to the State Emergency Services of Kharkiv this morning, stating that a there was a fatality in the Kupiansk region as a result of strikes on the Zolochiv community in the past day.

Police reported that a 71-year-old man had died in one of the settlements of Kupiansk as a result of shelling, most likely from an MLRS system, from a strike that occurred on the morning of October 19, while a 72-year-old man was also injured, while injuries also occurred to a woman aged 42, a man aged 52, a woman aged 19 and a girl aged 11 in the Orilka settlement of the Lozova community.

An attack on the Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi yesterday morning resulted in the dath of one man, while a man aged 71 was wounded but refused hospitalisation, according to head of the district administration Andriy Kanashevych, adding that a 59-year-old man who was wounded on October 10 had been admitted to hospital yesterday.

Attacks using four KABs, 2 Molniya-type drones and 2 undetermined type drones caused damage to a private house in the village of Orilka in the Lozova district, a car in the village of Horokhovatka in the Izium district, a car in the village of Prymorske in the Chuhuiv district, and an administration building in the Zolochiv settlement of the Bohodukhiv district.

Russia struck the REM energy distribution territory around 17:15, Kovalenko told Suspilne, adding that a Russian drone hit the ground resulting in damage to the administrative building of an enterprise, and confirming that initial investigations determined it was a Molniya-2 type drone.

Four cluster munitions were dropped later in the evening around 17:50 on the outskirts of Ud in the Zolochiv community, according to the head of the community Viktor Kovalenko.

Russia stormed 10 times around the South-Slobozhansky direction, according to morning reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, adding that there were also four attacks in the Kupiansk direction in one day, while the Ukrainian forces repelled assaults towards Pishchane.

Kharkiv’s transit evacuation point in Lozova received 160 people yesterday with 70 people remaining, and have now had 8,423 people register at the Point since the beginning of its operation.

As a result of last night’s attacks, the Trolleybus routes in Kharkiv are being split, and this was reportedly due to damage to power equipment as well as de-energising of the contact network section, reported the city council.

Trains have also been delayed in the Kharkiv region with delays of more than one hour due to the replacement of the locomotive traction as a result of attacks in the Sumy direction, according to reports by Ukrzaliznytsia.
