⚡️ Major General Roman Gofman was finally approved as the new Head of Mossad following a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court over the weekend.
🔹 Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara said: “Our position was rejected by the court, but we respect the ruling – I will assist Major General Gofman as required – we wish him great success.”
🔹 Outgoing Mossad director David Barnea sent a personal message to employees, saying: “I expect all of you to stand by Major General Gofman’s side – his success is the success of the Mossad and the State of Israel.”
🔹 A change-of-command ceremony is scheduled to be conducted on 2 June at Mossad headquarters, to be attended by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
🔹 President Herzog said at a farewell event for David Barnea: “During your tenure of Mossad, you wrote a golden chapter of deepening operational capabilities in Iran and against it, a chapter in which our enemies learned once again that the hand of the State of Israel is long, sharp, sophisticated, and cool-handed.”
🔹 Herzog added: “This is the opportunity to congratulate you, Champion Roman Gofman, the incoming Head of Mossad, you are taking the baton of command and the blessing of the entire nation will accompany you,” saying this is Gofman’s life story, a whole career has prepared him for: “I am sure that the determination, wisdom, and boldness you are known for, you will bring with you to the role.”
