US/Israel/Iran recap for June 1

⚡️ The US/Israel/Iran recap for June 1 includes comments about the negotiation, the Lebanese escalation that caused Iran to intervene, news from the Strait of Hormuz, and more.

Negotiation News:

⚡️ President Trump told NBC News he hadn’t received any indication from Iran that talks with the US were being suspended, but added that if the reports were true, then ‘that’s ok.’

“I think we’ve been talking too much… going silent would be very good,” Trump told NBC, stressing that silence ‘doesn’t mean we’re going to start dropping bombs,’ while adding: “We’ll keep the blockade – the blockade is a piece of steel.”

⚡️ EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas said that Pakistan has been the main mediator between the United States and Iran: “Your diplomatic efforts have helped to prevent a return to a full-blown war on several occasions, and these efforts are much recognised and appreciated across Europe,” she said, adding: “Without your support, there’s now a tenuous diplomatic opening to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

⚡️ President Trump reposted a Truth Social for a third time which claimed Iran had no navy, air force, or military, stating Iran should surrender, and it would lead to a brilliant victory over the US, which also attacked some news agencies, and the Democratic party.

What The Media Claimed:

⚡️ Tasnim News reported that Iran had suspended negotiations with the US over the continuous Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, claiming talks will not resume unless Israel halts its operations and withdraws forces from occupied areas in Lebanon.

🔹 Iran and allied groups are also considering increasing pressure through potential disruption of key maritime chokepoints, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

⚡️ Axios published a report soon after President Trump’s phone call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, saying that Trump ‘crashed out’ during the call over Israel’s escalation in Lebanon, claiming Trump told Netanyahu: “You’re fucking crazy!”

🔹 Trump was said to be serious over civilian casualties and Israeli threats to strike Beirut, warning Netanyahu that further escalation would deepen Israel’s international isolation and threaten negotiations with Iran, leading to Bibi calling off strikes on the Lebanese capital.

🔹 President Trump told Netanyahu: “You’re fucking crazy,” saying: “You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me, I’m saving your ass – everybody hates you now – everybody hate’s Israel because of this.”

🔹 Another source told Axios that Trump shouted: “What the fuck are you doing?” and accused Netanyahu of undermining efforts, claiming Netanyahu’s response to Trump was: “Ok, ok, just make sure everything is taken care of,” as the report added that one US official described it as the worst call between the two leaders since Trump returned to office.

⚡️ US broadcaster Mark Levin lashed out at Axios journalist Brak Ravid and the source who leaked details of President Trump’s phone call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, in which Trump reportedly told the Israeli prime minister “you’re fucking crazy,” as Levin called for an FBI investigation into the leaks.

The Lebanese Escalation:

⚡️ IRGC’s Intelligence branch published a statement on X saying that Iran considered crossing the red lines in Lebanon and Gaza as a direct war and imposing costs on its national security along with Islamic resistance, and in return, it sets its determination for defensive operations by carrying out deterrent actions, opening new fronts, and maintaining the status-quo in the Strait of Hormuz.

⚡️ Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to X on Monday in relation to the possible violations that could be committed by an Israeli attack on Beirut, saying: “For immediate attention: The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”

🔹 Araghchi said: “Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts,” adding that the US and Israel were responsible for the consequences of any violation.

⚡️ IRGC Commander Esmail Qaani published a statement on Monday saying the Israel mischief in Lebanon and Gaza, under the shameless support of the United States, will determine the determination of the Resistance Axis to expand support for both fronts, take action to activate other fronts, and equalize the traffic situation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait with the Strait of Hormuz, adding: “The miserable Zionist regime should know that the simultaneous crime in southern Lebanon and Gaza will trap it in the whirlpool of Hezbollah operations and the renewed storm of the Palestinian youth.”

⚡️ Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Monday that he had held a conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, stating that if crimes of the Israeli regime continued, Iran would not only halt the negotiation process but stand firmly with Hezbollah.

⚡️ President Trump spoke with ABC News on Monday, saying: “There was a little glitch today – the Iranians were upset about Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, so I spoke with Hezbollah and said no shooting, and I talked to Bibi and said no shooting, and they both stopped shooting at each other.”

🔹 Trump also told ABC that a peace agreement with Iran could be even better than a military victory, before adding that he thought he would have an agreement with Iran to extend the ceasefire with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz ‘over the next week.’

🔹 President Trump said it’s not a simple thing: “You’re talking about a very large country making a deal – tremendous hostility, really, so it’s not an easy thing for them – it’s actually not easy from our standpoint either,” adding: “I think you’re still talking about over the next week, I still have to get a few more points.”

⚡️ Following the escalation that had occurred in Lebanon for 24 hours through Israeli rhetoric, President Trump finally put to bed any thought of attacking Beirut in a telephone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

🔹 President Trump took to Truth Social afterwards, saying that he had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, noting the troops were turned around: “Thank you Bibi!” he said.

🔹 “I also had a conversation with representatives of the leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers – likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them. Let’s see how long that lasts,” he said.

News from Hormuz:

⚡️ Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Monday that 15 ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz within 24 hours, including 4 oil tankers, after receiving approval and directions from the Iranian Navy.

⚡️ US Central Command published a statement on Monday afternoon, saying: “Last night at 11pm ET, US forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles that targeted American forces in Kuwait – these missiles were immediately defeated and no American personnel were harmed, ”adding that US Central Command ‘remains vigilant’ and ‘will continue to protect our forces from Iranian aggression while supporting the ongoing ceasefire.”

⚡️ UKMTO confirmed reports that a cargo vessel under the Panamanian flag suffered a large explosion around 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr in Iraq, which occurred from an unknown projectile impacting on the starboard side, as footage began to circulate on intel channels showing the damage to the MSC Sariska V, according to Alsumaria News.

⚡️ IRGC Navy Public Relation published a statement on Monday saying that following the aggressive attack by the US Navy on the Iranian ship Lian Star in the Oman Sea area last week, the IRGC Navy conducted a retaliatory operation, targeting the MSC Sariska, owned by the American-Israelis with a cruise missile, adding: “Any aggression by the American army will be met with a decisive response.”

🔹 Reports of a second impact on the cargo vessel 40 nautical miles south of Umm Qasr, Iraq, were issued by UKTMO around thee hours later, noting it caused a fire to break out which has now been extinguished, and no crew members have been reported injured.

⚡️ US Central Command issued a statement on Monday updating the total number of vessels turned around is now 121, three more than on Sunday, while five vessels were disabled to remain compliant, since the blockade came into effect on April 13.

News from Iran:

⚡️ Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on X that the naval blockade and the escalation of war crimes in Lebanon by the ‘genocidal Zionist regime’ are clear evidence of the US’s non-compliance with the ceasefire, adding that every choice has a cost and its bill will come, and in the end, everything will be put in its place.

⚡️ President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the Israeli escalation, violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon, the continued displacement of Lebanese citizens, and the political/military support of the United States for the actions of the Israeli regime were concerning.

⚡️ Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the Prime Minister of Japan in a phone call that Iran has always considered diplomacy the most effective solution to existing issues, but unfortunately some parties, including the United States, be reneging on the commitment and also due to destabilising actions by the Israeli regime, had challenged diplomatic processes.

🔹 The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to facilitate maritime passage, the President added, stating the main problem arose from the restrictions and obstacles imposed by the United States against Iran’s shipping route, but Iran will strive to ensure the passage of Japanese ships was provided without problems and with ease.

⚡️ A security source in Tehran told Tehran Times that the United States and Israel, after the failure of trying to force Iran into surrender through negotiations and the failure to liberate the Strait of Hormuz, sought new ways to exploit the ceasefire opportunity.

🔹 The report said that the US and Israeli governments tried to impose the equation of Lebanon versus surrender by expanding the volume of attacks on the Lebanon and Gaza fronts, claiming the US assessment was that the capture of southern Lebanon and advancing beyond the yellow line in Gaza, alongside the continued Naval blockade, would put enough pressure on Iran to force them to revise their terms and surrender.

stan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, in which Araghchi expressed concerns about developments, including the violation of the ceasefire by Israel in Lebanon and a possible attack on Beirut, and Dar also spoke about the importance of ensuring the continuation of the ceasefire to prevent the collapse of existing understandings.

⚡️ Iran’s IRGC released footage which appeared to show Iran’s air defence downing a US MQ-1 drone on the night of May 31, which may have led to US Centcom’s statement in relation to the drone on Monday.

⚡️ Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mohsen Rezaee said the Strait of Hormuz is under Iran’s management in a post on X, claiming that Iran will not allow the continuation of the maritime blockade, and the escalation of tensions in Lebanon will not be tolerated either: “The patience of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has its limits,” he said.

⚡️ IRGC Ground Forces Commander Sardar Karami said the forces were 100% ready to face threats, saying: “The readiness level of the army has even surpassed that at the start of the war,” adding: “There is no problem at the force level, and we are fully prepared to confront any ground battle.”
