North Korea launching a new 5,000-ton Destroyer

The official North Korean news agency (KCNA) reported today that the supreme leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, visited the country’s new destroyer named “Choe Hyun” and ordered that the ship be delivered to the navy by mid-June.

According to the report, Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, boarded the destroyer on Thursday during the visit and inspected the integrated control center, the weapons systems control room, and other operational sections to assess its readiness.

The North Korean leader expressed satisfaction with the “favourable progress” of the tests related to the operational launch of this warship and reiterated the delivery schedule for mid-June.
