Netanyahu left in the dark about Trump’s plans, so when could an attack on Iran begin?

An American source who pet PM Benjamin Netanyau last week told Israel Channel 12 that the Prime Minister had revealed that he’d left a meeting with President Trump at the White House earlier this month without a clear understanding of what Trump wanted to do against Iran, saying: “Is he [Trump] still with us? I’m worried.”

Meanwhile, Trump has told advisers that if diplomacy or any initial US military action doesn’t lead Iran to give in to his demands that it give up its nuclear program would mean Trump considering a much larger attack in the coming months intended to drive Iranian leaders from power, according to NYT reports.

No final decisions have been made yet, but Trump has been leaning towards an initial strike intended to demonstrate to Iran’s leaders that they must be willing to agree to give up nuclear enrichment.

Targets under consideration range from the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to the country’s nuclear sites to the ballistic missile program, NYT added.

Senior American officials have since said that if the Geneva talks lead nowhere, President Trump is prepared to order the launch of a large-scale American-Israeli military operation, which may be aimed directly against Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamanei, according to Israeli Channel 12.
