Petrochemical Plant Sustains Damage In Bashkortostan

Footage captured from local CCTV cameras captured the moment explosions rang out around the Bashkortostan region of Russia, and soon after the videos began to surface of fire damage at the local Sterlitamak petrochemical plant.

Later, the city head confirmed that the explosion had occurred in the water treatment workshop of JSC “SNKZ”, causing a partial collapse of the workshop roof, but no one had been injured, according to reports by TASS, while the causes of the explosion were still being determined.

After visiting the site with rescuers, Radiy Khabirov, acting head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, claimed that the industrial complex had been attacked by two drones, adding that the debris fell in the industrial area near the facility, without specifying the name of the business.

According to the footage from the cameras, there were at least two explosions heard in the city, with the first at 6:22, and the second at 7:09 local time, according to videos published by Astra and ExileNova.

Footage also captured one of the fire sources near the petrochemical plant, taken around 3.5 kilometres from the source, according to OSINT analysts.

Initially it appeared as if the video showed a fire source either of a railway tank cars on the tracks or a tank slightly to the north, reported OSINT teams, while local residents reported there were several fire sources at the plant.

JSC Sterlitamak Petrochemical plant (JSC SNHZ) is an enterprise of the city of Sterlitamak that specialises in the production of rubbers, ionol, and aviation gasoline, while the official website states they are part of the Russian chemical holding firm Roskhim.
