Update for Lviv following air contamination after Russian strike

State Emergency Services were continuing to tackle the blaze that broke out at the infrastructure facility as a result of a drone strike in the Zolochiv district of the region at 5.30pm in the evening, while a glow from the flames could be seen near the impact site.

As of 6.30pm, minor exceedances of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and soot concentrations had been recorded in the villages of Smilne and the city of Brody, reported the Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maxim Kozitsky.

According to Kozitsky, the excesses don’t pose a threat to health, while nitrogen dioxide concentrations were within the norm, and concentrations of gas and formaldehyde in the residential areas were also within the norm.

An update was provided again from Maxim Kozitsky noting that as of 9pm, the suppression efforts were ongoing, while an uninterrupted water supply had been ensured and there was a significant reserve of foam-forming agents and bulk materials.

Kozitsky once again updated residents this morning, stating that there was a noticeable smokiness in the city, as well as a moderate increase in carbon monoxide contraction, but it didn’t pose a threat to residents’ health.

Air quality was constantly being carried out by specialists, and there are no restrictions for msot people, although those with chronic respiratory diseases are advised to temporarily limit long walks, and wear a mask when going outside.

Drinking at least 30ml of water per kilo of body fat is also recommended, as well as residents refraining from ventilating rooms for the time being, added Kozitsky.
