Russia’s Tatarstan was rocked by multiple explosions on the night of February 23, as residents began to report a fire and send footage to pro-Ukrainian media channels.
Several of these channels state that the Kaleikino NPS oil pumping station in Almetyevsk was on fire, some geolocating the footage to a distance of 3-5km from the NPS, which is near the village of Kaleikino.
According to data, the pumping station receives oil from various pipelines and serves as a major hub in the main system, which belongs to and is operated by the AO Transneft -Prikamye, a regional division of PJSC Transneft.
The blaze continued into the morning hours at the pumping station, as authorities confirmed: “Currently, work is ongoing to eliminate the consequences, all necessary forces and means of emergency services are involved at the site – we emphasise, there is no threat to the population – the situation is under control.”
