Fire burned through an oil depot in the Russian city of Penza following a Ukrainian drone strike on the night of January 23, reported Penza Oblast Governor Oleg Melnichenko.
Videos from Russo-Ukrainian channels Exilenova+ and Astra appeared to show a fire in the PenzaNefteProdukt oil depot, recently reported by AJ News as one which had recently increased production.
JSC PenzaNefteProdukt belongs to Rosneft and is one of the largest enterprises in the oil products market in the Penza region and Mordovia, with 18 tanks on the territory, and the volume of each tank is 21,600m³.
Reports on January 24 suggested that 150 employees of fire and rescue units, with the involvement of more than 40 pieces of equipment, continued to work at the site of the fire, and the peculiarity of extinguishing such fires is that petroleum products must burn out.
Rescuers stated that the main task was to prevent the spread of the fire, but they have to fight not only the flames but the cold weather, so a heating point had been set up nearby for the rescuers.
Ukraineās General Staff confirmed the destruction of the PenzaNefteProdukt oil depot in the Penza region on the night of January 23.
