Imagine being in bed at 10pm and getting a knock on the door by military campaigners asking residents to sign contracts with the Russian Armed Forces.
Primosky Krai residents faced this exact issue as two men and a woman in uniforms were knocking on apartments and distributing leaflets about contract service, and for those who didn’t open the door a leaflet was left in their doorway.
Residents complained about the visit of the representatives which was reported on January 19 by human rights activist Maxim Cihunov.
One resident of the house named Lyra stated: “I and my neighbours were woken up almost at ten in the evening. I had just laid down after work and almost fell off the sofa in surprise. Such loud knocks. We thought it was a fire or something. I have no words.”
“Knocking on all doors in a row, the noise from the knocks on the metal doors, it’s a real cacophony. I decided to rest, but they completely woke me up…” added the resident.
At the military service selection point in Artem, it was confirmed that their representatives conducted a door-to-door visit with police, stating the campaign to disseminate information about contract service is conducted daily throughout the country as part of a presidential decree.
