Hundreds of apartments damaged in overnight attack on Zaporizhzhia

More than a hundred apartments and twenty card were damaged as a result of a Russian dawn attack on Zaporizhzhia.

One hit struck the regional centre of a courtyard at a multi-story building, but initially there were no casualties, and after the ceasefire, specialists from the district administrations were prepared to start work at the site to document the damage, reported Head of the Regional State Administration Ivan Fedorov.

However, local medics stated they gave the necessary assistance to a 37-year-old man who had been injured and sought help at the scene.

At least 12 residential buildings were damaged and some were left without electricity, as services worked at the impact site, including public utility workers who were closing windows with OSB boards.

Fedorov noted that as of this morning there were four people known to have been injured, as two more people also sought medical help, so the injured included a 38-year-old man, along with women aged 88, 65 and 55 years old.

Another woman aged 88 had been reported injured in a later damage report, that noted two attacks just before 5am resulted in damage to 14 multi-apartment buildings, breaking more than 200 windows, balconies, and doors.

Around 20 cars that were parked nearby were either destroyed or damaged, and a partial power outage had occurred to some residences, while a mobile heating point with blankets and hot tea had been set up.

150 people, including people with disabilities and internally displaced persons, had sought help from specialised services this morning, who were aiming to complete priority repair work by the end of the day.

Rescuers updated that six people had been treated by medics as of this morning, with one admitted to hospital, as residents were diagnosed with various shrapnel wounds, cuts, stress reactions and concussions.

By this morning the rescuers had completed rescue work, noting that they were now carrying out restoration work to help the municipal services at the site of the multi-story multi-apartment building.

In  the past 24 hours, Russia carried out 804 strikes on 32 populated areas of the region, including 19 airstrikes, 448 drones of various types, 5 MLRS attacks and 332 artillery strikes that resulted in 43 reports of destruction of buildings, apartments, and cars.
