Belgorod blackout continues to cause issues, while falling debris caused damage to property

One resident of Belgorod lost access to mobile data last night, turning into the Mir Belgorod radio station around 9pm in order to find out about the latest alerts, only to have continuous music played instead.

Writing a message to Governor Gladkov, the reader noted that if the radio station was to report on alerts, the current situation, read out reports from the governor and other local Telegram channels.

Vyacheslav Gladkov later instructed the Ministry of Public Communications to address the issue and potentially look at providing an on-air service for local residents.

During attacks throughout the past day, three people had been injured.

A man and his children, aged 9 and 6, were admitted to the Rakitnaya Central Regional Hospital suffering with concussions, while a drone detonation resulted in a 17-year-old boy sustaining a penetrating shrapnel wound to the chest in Nikolsk.

During the rocket attack on Belgorod and the Belgorod district, a man from the village of Streltsy received shrapnel injuries to the chest and abdomen, while the roofs of two private houses were damaged.

Moving on to this morning, and drones attacked two populated areas of the Belgorod region, leaving two people injured.

A man suffered a barotrauma and a shrapnel wound to the thigh during a drone attack on a car in the village of Novostroevka-First in the Grayvoron district, with the impact damaging the car.

During an attack with a drone on a car in the village of Belyanka, a victim suffered from a mine-explosion injury, as well as shrapnel wounds to the face and knee, while the car that was attacked had completely burned down.

Due to a power outage following a Ukrainian attack on Belgorod’s energy system yesterday, Governor Gladkov was one of 77 people who got stuck in an elevator on his way to a meeting,

Thanks to the swift work of the Mayor of Belgorod and implementations put in place for just this kind of situation, Gladkov stated that he was rescued in good time and wasn’t late for the meeting.

More than 300 elevators were shut down in 68 buildings as a result of the consequences of the power outage on January 4.

Power outages were also continuing from February 3rd, when attacks on the Frunze and Belgorod substations caused mass failures, and since then there have been interruptions in the supply of electricity, heat and water in many parts of the city.

Dozens of stores in Belgorod’s two largest shopping centres also remained closed for the second day in a row due to the lack of heating and electricity.

Only eight stores opened today at the City Mall shopping centre, which included a cafe, padel courts, ATMs and vending machines, while a heating point had been set up on the first floor of the centre, where people can drink water for free, make tea or coffee, charge phones, and use Wi-Fi, during the hours of 08:00 and 00:00.

MegaGrinn shopping centre is open until 20:00 on February 5, with some retailers such as Burger King and GRINNBeer closed for technical reasons.

Several populated areas of the Belgorod region were reporting very low voltage on the network this morning, including Youth Boulevard, which had dropped to 205 vaults, while the voltage had dropped to 171 volts in the village of Hostischevo in the Yakovlevsky district.

Home internet had also been disrupted this morning in several districts of Belgorod, with subscribers of MTS, T2 and Rostelecom reporting disruptions to their service.

One resident was told by the operator’s support service that all users in the Belgorod region are experiencing restrictions in home internet service today, promising to resolve the issue within a couple of hours.

However, by lunchtime, users of Rostelecom were also complaining about problems with their internet, stating that it hadn’t been working for almost 24 hours.

One resident was told by the technical support team that the outage was related to the consequences of a power outage, so they were unable to specify an exact timeframe for restoration of the connection.

Many residents were also continuing to face disruptions with heat, power and water supply more than two days after the blackouts, and the management companies aren’t addressing the situation.

Residents of multiple streets in the Belgorod districts, along with the Maysky settlement, continued to complain about heating problems.

According to the residents, temperatures in their homes were dropping to around 13 degrees, so people, including children and elderly, were literally freezing in their apartments.

Calls to management companies were yielding no results either, because residents were promised that the problem would be fixed, but the situation remained unchanged.

Residents of the Maslova Prishtina settlement near the Shebekino district complained today that their children were sent to school for full-time education despite the power outages, and as a result, the students were forced to study in a cold building.

Reports of water supply problems were also being reported by residents in Begorod city, as well as the village of Veselaya Lopan, where the local residents claim there has been no water for the second day in a row.

A doctor from the Krasnoaruzhskaya Central Regional Hospital died in a drone attack on his car in the village of Ilek-Penkova, when the drone struck a Nissan Qashqui car, causing the death of 51-year-old radiologist Sergei Tkachev.

According to reports the drone crashed into the car’s windshield, and the doctor died on the spot from the injuries sustained by the detonation, and Governor Gladkov failed to report on the man’s death or the attack.

This morning, a drone attacked a Teboil gas station in the Severny settlement, where local residents stated the attack occurred around 1pm, and a neighbouring gas station located in front of the Teboil station was also damaged during the attack.
