Kharkiv situational update for January 27

Russia used a Molniya-type drone yesterday to target the Nemyshlyansky district as the region continued to come under pressure, and the impact of the drone damaged the windows of multi-story buildings, reported City Mayor Igor Terekhov.

An attack on the Zolochiv district yesterday killed local resident Artur Lobbov, born 1990, according to the village council, noting that Russia had used MLRS during the attack on the local energy infrastructure.

During the evening there was an ongoing attack on Kharkiv’s Losyeve 330kV substation in the Industrial district, with around 6 missiles used and a recon drone operating overhead to designate strikes with a laser, which resulted in a power outage in the area, reported Russian Blogger Vodka Echo, with several explosions also reported by City Mayor Ihor Terehkov.

Following the strikes, damage reports began to surface, including a school, a kindergarten and apartment buildings in Kharkiv, while two people were initially reported injured, and power outages were reported around the city by Terekhov.

According to Russian news blog Pepel, a missile strike on a substation left the city of Chuhuiv without power too, while the metro press were reporting the suspension of the movement of trains on the Saltivska and Oleksiyvska routes due to technical reasons, later closing the Academician Pavlov metro station in the city for passenger services, but this was temporary and was open again within an hour.

Reports from the heads of the Izium, Zlatopil, Chuhuiv and Lozova communities, there were emergency power outages applied due to the attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure and an unstable situation, which also affected electric transportation in the region.

Rescuers this morning were continuing to tackle a fire at an educational building in Kharkiv, which was partially destroyed during the night’s attack, while another building nearby was also on fire, and firefighters were working at the scene of both, reported City Mayor Terekhov.

Later, Terekhov went live to report that two people in Kharkiv were in a moderate condition in hospital following the attacks by Russia, noting that there were: “Three missile strikes in the Industrial district: it was an energy facility that supplies Kharkiv, with very serious damage.”

Terekhov continued: “In addition, a lyceum and 16 multi-story buildings were damaged, Utility services were working, but the air temperature was very low, and they needed to do everything quickly to maintain heat,” as videos of the fire began to get published by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, a school guard at the lyceum was injured, and another employee suffered from acute shock, when Russia launched a series of missile strikes on Kharkiv at around 7:15pm last night.

This morning’s damage report by Head of the Regional State Administration Oleg Sinegubov noted that more than 270 windows were broken in at least 19 buildings, including apartment buildings, adding that in addition to the residential buildings, two educational institutions and a critical infrastructure object suffered damage.

An attack in Mykolaivka of the Prolisne community resulted in a 62-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man suffering injuries, while a private house was damaged, reported Sinegubov, while Head of the Prolisne State Emergency Service Sergei Kotenko reported that both were in a satisfactory condition in hospital, as the woman had received a shrapnel wound and her husband had suffered from an acute stress reaction.

Kharkiv’s State Emergency Services also noted that the Kovyagi and Shlyakh communities of the Bogodukhiv district, Siyi Yar and Gorozhanovka in the Kupiansk region, Chervone and Burbulatove in the Lozovosky district, along with Martove in the Pecehnigsk community, were all subject to Russian attacks over the past day.

In total Russia carried out 195 strikes and four air strikes in north of Kharkiv over the past day, reported the 16th Army Corps, noting that the defence forces destroyed 84 occupiers and damaged 124 pieces of equipment, including two artillery systems.

OSINTer AMK Mapping stated this morning that Geran-2 drones and Tornado-S rockets were used to target the region, with at least 4 Tornado-S rockets striking the Losyeve 330kV substation in the Industrial district of Kharkiv.

Meanwhile, Geran-2 drones had reportedly impacted at the Zolochiv 110kV electrical substation in the Zolochiv community, along with unknown targets in the town of Koviahky, as well as the villages of Chervone, Siryi Yar, Horozhanivka, Burbulatove, Martove, and Mykolaivka, reported AMK Mapping, and also noted within the situational update.
