For issuing an ICC warrant, Paris-based law firm Vigo is undesirable in Russia

Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office declared the Paris-based law firm Vigo as undesirable following a complaint which led to an ICC arrest warrant being issued for President Putin.

According to the agency, the firm carried out pro bono work to assist the already declared undesirable association of university students and staff “For Ukraine! For their freedom and for ours!”

“In the interests of its client, the law firm prepared and sent to the International Criminal Court so-called accusatory messages about alleged crimes committed in Russia,” wrote the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“As a result of the study of one of them by the international judiciary body, obviously unlawful warrants for the arrests of citizens of the Russian Federation were issued.”

Vigo reportedly filed two messages with the ICC in The Hague together with the association, the first in December 2022 concerned the relocation and deportation of children from occupied regions of Ukraine, followed in March 2023 by the issue of arrest warrants for President Vladimir Putin and the Children’s Rights Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova.

In September 2024, Vivo filed a new message which also concerned the removal of children and the participation of members of United Russia in this.
