⚡️ Vatican voiced concerns over Israeli-Lebanon framework implementation
➡️ Pope Leo XIV held a private audience with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, after which the Holy See voiced serious concerns regarding the ongoing difficulties regarding the implementation of the US-brokered agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
🔹 During a thirty-minute meeting, President Aoun urged the Pontiff to support Beirut’s push for a complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from southern Lebanon, noting that despite the established framework of the deal, strikes continued to impact civilians, while heavy demolition operations targeted residential homes across a strip of territory stretching roughly ten kilometres deep inside the Lebanese border.
🔹 In an official statement, the Vatican welcomed the initial signing of the agreement, while pledging its active support for diplomatic efforts to resolve implementation hurdles, following discussions with high-ranking officials including Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Paul Richard Gallagher.
