Two waves of Ukrainian drones made it to Krasnodar Krai and Kuban in the early hours

Thanks to Ukraine’s persistent invasions into Crimea using drones to take out air defences and radars, drones were once again reaching the shores of Krasnodar Krai.

Air alerts were announced and airports were closed as drones headed to the region and air defences became active.

Four private houses were damaged by falling debris in the Seversky district in the early hours of January 28, as emergency services rushed to the scene, but there were no casualties.

Drone debris also damaged two private houses and breaking windows in the Svobodny settlement, and two more houses were damaged in the Severskaya station, with one suffering from damage to the roof, ceiling and floor, while the other suffered from broken windows.

Local residents reported to SHOT that a series of explosions were occurring in the suburbs of Krasnodar and the Seversky district of Kuban, noting that the first wave of attacks occurred around 2am with a total of at least 9 explosions heard and flashes were visible in the sky.

As a result of the attacks, four private houses in the Free Farm and Severskaya Stanitsa were damaged.

Residents stated that the second wave of attacks began around 6am with explosions audible in the Yubileyny microdistrict of Krasnodar, the Yablonovsky settlement, and in the Seversky district of Kuban, but at the time there had been no official information about victims, although the airport had been closed for more than 4 hours at this point.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported that 24 drones were shot down over the territory of Krasnodar Krai, another 23 over Crimea, 6 over the waters of the Black Sea and another 3 over the waters of the Azov Sea.
