Last night when questioned by reporters, US President Donald J Trump said that time was running out for Ukraine, and Zelensky should make a deal as soon as possible.
However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told a live audience at the 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC) that Russia may not be serious about resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Rubio noted that although the range of issues for negotiations are gradually narrowing, the most complex ones still remain unresolved, while also emphasising that as long as negotiations continue, the US and its European partners will maintain pressure on Russia, including the use of sanctions and military assistance to Ukraine.
However, it’s important to note that since February 2025, the US support for Ukraine in terms of defence or military assistance has declined by 99% according to Bloomberg, citing military sources in the know, while noting that the EU had picked up the majority of the shortfall, while NATO and other independent countries had also contributed.
