Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says nuclear negotiations in Geneva will continue at around 5:30pm local time.
Baqaei said that both nuclear matters and sanctions relief were addressed during what he described as ‘very intense and serious’ talks.
According to Baqaei: “Contradictions that are expressed by some US officials continue to create doubts and suspicions – our negotiation behaviour is clear, for us, the focus is on the result.
“The talks that took place today were very serious – we hope that in the continuation of tonight’s discussions we will witness the continuation of the talks on the issue of the withdrawal of sanctions and the main reasons for a military operation – with proposals that are feasible.”
Baqaei said: “It is natural that all the media, all the influential parties in the region and internationally, closely monitor, try to be influential, and in many places make headlines.
“None of the speculations raised in foreign media are confirmed – the important thing is that we are focused on what has been revealed to us – we will try to ensure the best interests and rights of the people of Iran.”
Baqaei said: “Some initiatives have been proposed, so we have to wait and see what will happen tonight – some of these discussions should be consulted with the leaders on how to end them, and then, God willing, at the end of the negotiations, we will be able to have a concrete solution.”
Concluding, The FM spokesperson said: “The topic of the negotiations is the only nuclear issue – any agreement must include lifting sanctions.”
