Combined missile and drone attack by Russia caused damage in Rivne

Head of the Regional State Administration Alexander Koval noted that the region had been subjected to a large aerial attack by the Russian army.

“We have damage to residential buildings and critical infrastructure – according to information, two people have been injured,’ Koval wrote.

Koval added that there was currently a power outage in the region, while there may also be a problem with water supply, but other life-support services were operating normally.

“I held an urgent meeting of the regional emergency committee and disaster management committee,” Koval said, continuing: “I gave a series of instructions to the heads of the communities, in particular, to use all possible alternative sources of electricity supply.”

As the air raids began to stop and the damage could be assessed, Koval was able to update the situation and stated that there had been a hit on a multi-apartment residential building, and Koval had attended the scene of the incident along with the relevant services.

State Emergency Services shared footage along with news that three residential buildings had been damaged when a fire broke out, as rescuers and law enforcement officers documented the consequences of the scene.

A heating point had been set up at the courtyard of the affected buildings, reported the OVA, noting that psychologists were also working the scene, and utility workers were already preparing to replace glass in buildings today.

According to Kozitsky, 6 thousand residents were left without water and heat this morning, as a result of Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure, but all relevant services were working to restore supply, adding that more than 600,000 were without electricity throughout the Lviv region.

This afternoon, Koval was able to report that power was gradually being restored to homes of the residents, while the heat and water supplies had already been ensured, stating that: “Hospitals and other life-support facilities are operating normally.”

However, Koval also updated that one man had been known to have been killed as a result of the morning attack on the region, but was unable to provide further information at the time.

Rivne Police were able to confirm that: “As a result of a hit by an object on a house, a 40-year-old father and a 19-year-old son were injured and hospitalised. It is also known about the death of a man in the regional centre.”

According to the Police, hits caused damage to a critical infrastructure facility, a multi-apartment building and two private residential buildings, along with several cars.

An animal shelter reported damage this morning as a result of the attacks, noting that some animals had fled the scene, while others had been injured, according to Acting Mayor of Rivne Viktor Shakirzhan.

“As a result of the attack by the Russian Federation on the Rivne community, the animal shelter was damaged,” Shakirzhan noted, continuing: “THe blast wave hit the building and enclosures, some animals fled the scene, and there are injured ones.”

Viktor Skahirzhan also confirmed that thy city was ready to provide a specialised temporary shelter for the animals: “We are in constant contact with the owners of the shelter that was subjected to shelling and ready to assist in its restoration.”
