Ukrainian regional recap and damage report update on Oct 5

General Staff Report:

Day 1685 of the war imposed by Russia saw 177 combat clashes in the previous 24 hours, as Russia launched 1 missile and 85 air strikes, using 245 guided aerial bombs, as well as 9574 kamikaze drones, on 2335 populated areas and Ukrainian military positions, 39 of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.

Ukrainian defence forces reportedly struck four UAV control points, four areas of Russian personnel, three artillery systems, and another important Russian target.

Russia lost 2,020 soldiers over the past day, while damage or destruction occurred to four armoured fighting vehicles, 47 artillery systems, three MLRS, two air defence systems, 22 ground-based robotic systems, 1,855 unmanned aerial vehicles, 727 vehicles and tankers, as well as five units of specialised equipment.

UAF Report:

During the night between 18:00 and 08:00, Russia launched 205 different types of attack drones, 49 of which were jet drones, of which 172 were suppressed or destroyed by Ukrainian air defences.

According to preliminary information, drones hit at 13 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at another 3 locations.

Chernihiv:

Russia targeted residential areas of the Chernihiv region with drones on Sunday, hospitalising three people including a 10-year-old child, reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while two residential buildings and an outbuilding caught fire, with all fires extinguished by the Specialist Emergency Services.

Donetsk:

Head of the Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin reported that one person from Kramatorsk was reported injured during the past 24 hours.

Dnipropetrovsk:

One person was killed and four injured as a result of more than 70 attacks by the Russian military using artillery, drones, and an aerial bomb, targeting four districts of the region, damaging residential buildings, shops, businesses, an administrative building, a gas station, and cars were damaged.

Drone strikes resulted in a person being injured and a private house being damaged in Pavlohrad, as well as a fire breaking out in a communications company building in Dnipro, while a two-story apartment building and a bus were also damaged by strikes.

Russia damaged an administrative building in the Nikopol District using FPV drones, while causing a fire to break out as a result of a drone in the Novooleksandrivska community of the Dnipro District, as well as in an outbuilding in the Vasylkivska community of the Synelnykove District, along with damage to agricultural machinery in the Dobovykivska community.

Kharkiv:

Two people received medical assistance following a Russian strike with an MLRS system using cluster munitions on Izyum, according to the Izyum City Military Administration, noting the impact occurred at around 11;50am on October 4th.

One person died and six others were injured as a result of three strikes using Bandera loitering munitions overnight on the Industrial District of Kharkiv, reported Mayor Igor Terekhov, who said one of the injured was in an extremely critical condition.

Terekhov reported that the police had arrived on the scene between the first and second explosions, as a strike landed less than 20 metres away, causing injuries to one police officer in the process.

A Russian FPV drone equipped with fibre-optic cable attacked an ambulance in Zolochiv last night, according to Viktor Kovalenko, head of the City Military Administration, who said the attack occurred around 11pm, and although the vehicle was damaged, no one was injured.

Kherson:

One person was injured overnight, reported the regional administration: “Around 7:20pm, Russians attacked a man in Pryozernye with a drone,” they said, stating: “As a result of the attack, a 53-year-old resident sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his arm.”

20 settlements of Kherson, along with the city of Kherson, came under attack from Russian forces in the past day, injuring 6 people, reported Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Oleksandr Produkin.

Damage was caused to critical infrastructure and social facilities, including an apartment building and 7 private houses, a cell tower, a gas pipeline, an agricultural enterprise, a minivan, and private vehicles.

Kyiv:

A Shahed drone had crashed directly into a courtyard on Sunday afternoon, but did not detonate, so many locals went sightseeing around the undetonated munition, leading Mayor Vitali Klitschko to have to issue warnings warning residents not to approach any munitions as they could be timed or may be faulty and could detonate at any time.

Due to the attacks on the bridges over the weekend and new guidance in place, traffic jams began to form by 8am this morning local time around the Podilskyi bridge in the direction of the right bank, while public transportation was also experiencing delays due to congestion, and trains were running increased services at peak times in order to decrease the number of car users on the bridges.

Mykolaiv:

The region came under attack from Shahed drones, Bander drones and FPV drones, according to the regional military administration, who noted a 58-year-old man was injured as a result of the attack, while warehouses and three cars sustained damage.

Odesa:

Residential infrastructure was the target of Russia throughout Sunday in the region, which resulted in damage to the roof and windows of a private residential building, but no information about casualties or injuries were reported, as all relevant services worked on the scene.

During the night Russia targeted the Izmail district of the region with drones, damaging civilian infrastructure, according to the district administration.

Following a morning strike by Russia, the lights flickered in Tairov, before a power surge, and then the lights went out completely.

Head of the Odesa State Administration Oleg Kiper said that Russia targeted industrial and port infrastructure, as well as residential areas of the region overnight, causing fires to break out which were already extinguished, and reported there were no casualties as a result of the strikes.

The State Emergency Services noted that specialists from the radiation, chemical, and biological protection (RCB) unit conducted an inspection of the area of the warehouse fire, but no dangerous substances were detected, and radiation levels were normal.

Due to power outages reported in Odesa on Monday morning because of a local accident in the power grid, the electric transport system has had to be temporarily adjusted, affecting routes 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 17, and 18, while parts of the Kyivskyi, Primorskyi, and Khadzibeyskyi districts have been cut off.

Poltava:

Russian drones struck an energy facility in the Poltava region, resulting in approximately 22,000 consumers temporarily left without power, as specialists from ‘Poltavaoblenergo’ working to restore power supply during the late evening.

Sumy:

More than 15 houses were damaged in the Kovpak district following at least two impacts with rocket shells, damaging two five-story apartment buildings and 10 private buildings, while a tree fell on the road due to the explosion, making it impossible for traffic to pass through the section of road.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged in the Onufriivka community as a result of an attack on Sunday, reported the Regional Military Administration, stating that windows were shattered at a local lyceum and a cultural centre due to the blast wave.

During another strike on Sunday using KAB bombs, Russia struck two settlements of Sumy causing a garage to catch fire at one of the locations, while six people were reported injured and given medical assistance.

Overall, a strike with drones in the Sumy community killed one man and traumatised another, while guided aerial bombs injured 21 people, including a one-year old child.

A woman and a man suffered severe stress reactions in the Sveska community following drone strike, while a man was also injured and traumatised in the Velikopysariv community.

In the Shostka community, a woman was injured following a drone strike on a car, while a man suffered a severe stress reaction following a drone striking a house in the Seredyno-Budska community.

A woman and a man who were injured on October 3rd as a result of a drone strike in the Seredyno-Budska community sought medical attention.

Zaporizhzhia:

One man was killed during an attack on a tractor in the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia with a drone, while another worker was injured, reported the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

A drone struck a garden cooperative, killing a man and injuring a woman, in the settlement of Kushuhum, and during the night there was an attack on an infrastructure facility in Zaporizhzhia, but no casualties.

Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Ivan Fedorov said two people were killed and four injured in total in the past 24 hours, noting that Russia launched 891 attacks on 52 settlements.

Russian forces carried out 25 air strikes, used 719 various types of drones, shelled twice with MLRS, as well as 145 artillery strikes, resulting in 40 reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities.
