Ukraine Regional Recap, Damage Reports & Update for October 4

General Staff Update:

Day 1684 began with the announcement of 204 combat clashes in the past 24 hours. Russia launched 65 airstrikes, including 233 guided aerial bombs, as well as using 9090 kamikaze drones and carrying out 2465 artillery strikes on various areas and Ukrainian military positions. Ukraine’s defence forces struck one Russian UAV control point and one Russian command post.

Russia lost 1750 people in the past day, while damage or destruction was caused to six armoured combat vehicles, 49 artillery systems, one MLRS, three air defence assets,13 ground robotic complexes, 1742 unmanned aerial vehicle, 527 automobiles, and five units of Russian special equipment.

UAF Update:

Russia launched 135 drones overnight, of which 52 were jet-powered, along with Banderol drones and other aerial munitions, which was repelled by Ukrainian air defence forces, who destroyed 123 Russian drones. Hits were recorded in 5 locations, while debris from destroyed drones fell at another five loctions.

Chernihiv:

Russian forces used Lancet drones to attack a civilian infrastructure facility in the village of Ponornytsia.

Dnipropetrovesk:

Two injured following a Russian strike on food storage facilities in Pavlohrad. A 34-year-old will be treated as an outpatient following shelling in the Nikopol district. Russia also struck the Malomykhalivka community in the Synelnykove district. A minivan was destroyed in the Nikopol district. Fires broke out that damaged an enterprise in Ternivka as a result of a drone attack. A fire broke out as a result of an FPV drone in the Hrushivska community of Kryvyi Rih, damaging a building that was not in use.

Donetsk:

An apartment building, a private house, a car, and an administrative building were damaged as a result of an attack on Kramatorsk, while fires broke out at the impact sites, including an apartment on the 8th floor of a nine-story building and in a car. In addition, a fire on the roof of an administrative building, a non-residential building, and a garage was contained. Firefighters had to suspend operations temporarily due to the activity of Russian drones. Filashkin reported this morning that two people were injured in the region in the past 24 hours, who were both from Sloviansk. Head of City Military Administration Vadym Lyakh confirmed that around 3pm yesterday, the area near Kazenny Torets came under fire, injuring residents aged 39 and 21, who were reported to be in a critical condition in hospital. The attacks also damaged private homes, a store, and a car service station in the city.

Kharkiv:

A 35-year-old woman was killed around 7:50pm when an FPV drone hit car in Shestakovo in the Stary Saltiv community, while a 39-year-old man was injured in the strike, according to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Russia launched two attacks on the city of Izyum using kamikaze drones, with hits recorded on the territory of a civilian infrastructure facility and in a residential area. Two fires broke out – one at the infrastructure facility, and one in two two-story private houses, which were extinguished by State Emergency Services. Izyum was also struck around midnight with rocket artillery, reported the DMA, stating the strike hit near Povorotka, causing a fire on the territory of a non-operational enterprise. A 66-year-old man was killed near Masliiv in the Derhachi community on the Zolotchev-Dergachi road. Russia used drones to target parked cars in Zolochiv too, according to Head of the DMA Kovalenko. A private residence and an outbuilding was damaged by a fire that was quickly extinguished by the SES in the village of Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk district, following a strike with a drone. The Kyiv and Shevchenkiv districts were under attack throughout yesterday, reported the RSA, who said that multi-apartment building, a store, and a car were damaged. A Molniya drone struck an apartment building in Solonitsivka, hitting the eighth floor, resulting in a man sustaining blast injures, reported spokesperson for the RMA.

Kherson:

Three people were injured as 38 settlements of Kherson and Kherson City came under Russian bombardment in the past 24 hours, damaging 3 private houses, farm buildings, and private vehicles. A 58-year-old man was targeted in Kherson by a Russian drone, admitted to hospital with a compound fracture of the leg and blast injures. A 63-year-old from the Koryabel district sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his leg following Russian shelling yesterday. Meanwhile, a Russian drone attacked a 57-year-old man in the centre of Kherson this morning, who was taken to hospital with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the arms.

Kirovohrad:

A man was killed and a woman was injured following a Russian drone strike in the city, while a fire broke out at the impact site covering around 100 square metres, which was extinguished.

Kyiv:

Russia targeted Kyiv’s northern bridge yesterday morning, causing further delays for people trying to cross the banks of the river, leading Kyiv to order the construction of pontoons, which will take around 3 months. Fragments of a drone fell on the roof of a multi-story building in the Obolonsky district around 18:00 local time, causing a fire to break out, but there were no casualties reported by the Emergency Services. Multiple surveillance drones flew towards Kyiv from Chernihiv in the evening, which were shot down around the reservoir at Slavutych, according to local monitors. A fire broke out at a private residential building in the Holosiivskyi district due to falling debris, reported Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Debris from a drone fell on the roof of a private residential building in the Dnipro district this morning, but there was no fire. More debris from another drone also fell in an open area near a road in the Dnipro district, which didn’t cause a fire or any casualties.

Mykolaiv:

The region was targeted with strike drones, MLRS systems, and a Lancet drone yesterday, damaging four private homes in Ochakiv and the village of Dmytrivka, according to the RMA. The Kutsurub community was attacked with a Lancet drone. There were no deaths or injuries reported in any of the strikes.

Odesa:

Ukrainian air defence forces shot down or suppressed 113 Russian aerial attack drones across the region, according to the South Operational Command. The region was attacked yesterday morning with Bandera type loitering munitions, but countermeasures prevented many reaching their targets. Head of the Odesa Military Administration Serhiy Lisak reported that Russia targeted vital infrastructure in Odesa yesterday.

Sumy:

Russian forces shelled the Sumy region almost 80 times during the day, according to the RMA, who said that two men were killed as a result of drone attacks in Shostka and Seredyno-Budska. Seven more people were injured, including five in the Sumy community, as a result of Russian KAB strikes. 12 communities were struck in total, damaging multi-apartment buildings and private homes, civilian infrastructure, and private cars. Around 9pm last night, a Russian drone struck a car in the Kovpaky district of Sumy, causing a fire to break out which was extinguished, while there were no injuries, according to eyewitnesses at the scene. Russia targeted communication infrastructure in the Putivl community yesterday, which may cause disruptions to mobile phone services, as an FPV drone attacked one of the facilities, but there were no casualties, reported Mayor Gavrilchuk. A 47-year-old man died in the Shostka community following a drone strike yesterday, while another 41-year-old was injured and admitted to hospital, reported the head of the Shostka DMA. Head of the Sumy CMA said Russia struck two locations in the Zarychnyi district this morning, damaging apartment buildings and private vehicles, along with power lines and gas supplies, the facades of buildings, windows, and balconies, while cars parked nearby were damaged as a result of the blast waves. At least five people were injured, according to the RMA, who said two had sustained serious injuries, noting that Russia launched five KABs at the city, and there were impacts near a multi-story building at around 7:50am.
