⚡️ — Araghchi urged the US to return to the commitments of the Islamabad MoU
➡️ Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had accompanied President Masoud Pezeshkian to Kyrgyzstan’s Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, holding meetings on the first day with counterparts to emphasise Iran’s resolve to secure its rights.
🔹 Discussions also mentioned the aggressive actions of the United States and the consequences of these actions, urging the United States to return to its commitments and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
🔹 Araghchi informed the media that the first day of meetings and discussions were strictly business-like and devoid of standard formalities, with a particular emphasis placed on existing opportunities for cooperation in the economic sector and other sectors.
🔹 The FM added that the issue of aggressive US attacks and their consequences must also be addressed, stating that Iran will continue to stand firm and uphold its rights, which was one of the main points underscored in all the meetings.
🔹 Araghchi continued that one of the topics raised was the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which had been signed by the presidents of both countries and which the United States had violated.
🔹 The FM urged the United States to return to its commitments and adhere to the terms of the memorandum, noting that only then can the two move past the current situation, and added that all nations share the concern that the war should end as soon as possible.
🔹 Araghchi had met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday morning during the second day, discussing matters of mutual interests, as well as regional and international issues.
🔹 The FM also participated in a group conversation with the foreign ministers of Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan on the margins of the SCO Summit.
