⚡️ — Pakistan Prime Minister invites Iranian President to visit Islamabad
➡️ Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was formally invited to pay an official visit to Islamabad at the earliest possible opportunity by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as Pezeshkian extended a reciprocal invitation for Sharif to attend an upcoming ECO summit in Iran.
🔹 The invitations were extended during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Council Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, according to a statement that was released by the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office.
🔹 During the warm and cordial meeting, both leaders underscored their deep and longstanding ties, calling for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all fields, in line with agreements made during Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Islamabad, while also reviewing ongoing efforts aimed at expanding regional connectively and people-to-people ties.
🔹 Sharif mentioned the necessity of restraint and diplomatic engagement to achieve a lasting peace in the region during the talks, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to sincere efforts for regional peace, stating that the recent visits of Field Marshal Asim Munir to Tehran and his constructive engagement had been a promising development.
🔹 The statement also quoted the Iranian president as expressing appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts towards regional peace and security.
