⚡️ — Iranian officials have several meetings on the sideline of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit
➡️ President Masoud Pezeshkian was welcomed in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Monday, by the country’s deputy cabinet chief, before heading to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation annual summit to deliver a speech and meet with foreign representatives.
🔹 During the two-day visit, Pezeshkian is scheduled to hot meetings with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov, as well as the President of Tajikistan, the Prime Minister of India, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while also participating in the official opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games at the invitation of the Kyrgyz president.
🔹 On the second day of the President’s visit, he will address the summit of SCO and SCO Plus leaders, as well as holding holding a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
➡️ Pezeshkian first met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the sidelines of the SCO, reviewing the latest developments in bilateral relations, stressing the need to strengthen and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interests.
🔹 Spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry Randhir Jaiswal said on his X account that PM Narendra Modi had held a fruitful meeting with Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, discussing various aspects of bilateral ties and recent developments in West Asia.
🔹 “The Prime Minister reiterated India’s consistent position that all issues must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” he wrote, stating that the Prime Minister also underlined the need for continued efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region, and for safeguarding freedom of navigation and commerce.
🔹 Modi also directly commented on the meeting, saying he reaffirmed to Pezeshkian of India’s ‘commitment to strengthening India’s long-standing friendship with Iran across diverse sectors,’ especially diversifying the trade basket in the times to come.
🔹 According to Modi’s social media post, the Indian PM and Iranian President also discussed the current situation in the region, with Modi ensuring ‘India will continue to support all efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace.’
➡️ President Pezeshkian next met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, discussing the latest state of bilateral relations and further ways to strengthen cooperation between Tehran and Bishkek, emphasising the need to utilise existing capacities to expand and deepen relations between the two countries in various fields.
➡️ Following the meeting with Japarov, Pezeshkian met with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines, discussing developments in Tehran-Islamabad ties while stressing the need to better use existing capacities to deepen relations across all fields, and also discussing the latest status of joint cooperation between the two countries.
➡️ Talks continued after as Pezeshkian met with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, reviewing bilateral relations and stressing the need to further develop and deepen relations between the two countries.
➡️ President Pezeshkian’s final meeting on the sidelines was with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in which they stressed needs to work together in order to develop and deepen relations, as well as improving other bilateral relations.
