Netanyahu officially appoints Gofman to Mossad and says goodbye to Barnea

⚡️ Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially appointed Major General Roman Gofman as the 14th Head of the Mossad, after the court hearing was postponed to allow the meeting.

🔹 At the change-of-command ceremony, Netanyahu said: “The Iranian regime will eventually pass from the world – and we will help it reach that goal – it will not return or threaten our existence.”

🔹 Netanyahu praised Gofman’s determination, learning ability and strategic vision, saying the Mossad will remain the forefront of the fight against Iranian aggression, and that Israel would not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons or threaten its existence with thousands of ballistic missiles: “This is my directive – and this is your mission,” Netanyahu told Gofman and the Mossad personnel.

🔹 Incoming Mossad Chief Roman Gofman addressed the organisation staff, saying: “The strategic reversal we have inflicted on the Iranian axis and the plan to destroy Israel has changed the power equation across the region,” adding: The Shiite axis, which inscribed on its flag the destruction of our state, has been severely struck, but the work is not yet done.”

🔹 Outgoing Mossad Director David Barnea wished Gofman success and praised the organisation’s refusal to retreat in the face of challenges, while Netanyahu thanked Barnea for his 30 years of dedicated service, noting that his five-year tenure was among the most fateful in Israel’s history.

🔹 Gofman was appointed after serving as the Prime Minister’s Military Secretary and 31 years in senior command roles.
