ORENBURG REFINERY CAUGHT FIRE AGAIN

Locals from Orenburg took to social media today to report a second fire at the Orenburg gas facility that was attacked by Ukrainian forces on October 19, but the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations had denied the fire occurred.

According to several reports, the gas processing plant caught fire again on the afternoon of October 20, after which Astra analysed the footage from the fire and it indeed showed the gas processing plant, and the fire footage was clearly taken from the plant’s territory.

However, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations continued to deny there was any fire at the plant today, according to reports in the local media.

Ukraine attacked the gas processing plant in Orenburg on October 19 using UAVs, said the regional governor Yevgeny Sointsev, adding that the infrastructure had been partially damaged and one of the workshops had caught fire.

The Orenburg gas processing plant is the largest gas chemical complex in the world, with a processing capacity of 37.5 billion cubic metres of gas per year, according to RBC, but transit to Europe from the Orenburg GPP was stopped on January 1, 2025, according to the publication.
