Warnings from a Taliban spokesman stated that Afghanistan would retaliate following recent Pakistani strikes, raising fears of a potential all-out war between the two countries.
Pakistan accused the Afghan Taliban of harbouring militant groups responsible for attacks inside Pakistan, as tensions continued to escalate along the 1,640-mile shared border.
Since late February, when Pakistan declared an ‘open war,’ it has carried out dozens of airstrikes across Afghanistan, targeting military infrastructure but also reportedly hitting civilian homes, refugee camps, and health facilities, according to the United Nations.
