An Odessa border guard has had a complaint filed against him after being accused of trying to organise the illegal transfer over the border to Moldova of a man who had been conscripted, according to the State Bureau of Investigation on February 26.
According to the investigation, in October 2025, the border guard began negotiations with a potential client regarding illegal crossing of the state border – having access to official information and knowing the specifics of the security of the area, the inspector offered to provide a detailed route to bypass checkpoints for seven thousand dollars.
Law enforcement officers established that for the payment, the defendant was supposed to show a safe route on the map, determine the time and method of travel, and provide recommendations regarding appearance and necessary items.
The inspector was detained at the stage of implementing the plan, preventing the transfer, and was charged with Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to 9 years in prison, and the indictment was sent to court for processing.
