According to reports from Spanish sports newspaper Marca, amid cartel violence, there are growing fears whether authorities will be able to ensure security, but no public announcement has been made yet that Guadalajara will lose its status as the host city, however there are thirteen World Cup matches scheduled to take place in Mexico.
Matches involving Mexican football clubs have already been canceled or postponed due to unrest – mainly the disturbances that erupted following the murder of Cartel Leader Nemesio Oseguara Cervantes.
