Attacks on Kharkiv injured two and also targeted animal rescuers

Last night Russia hit the Lozova community, damaging critical infrastructure, causing problems with the water supply to the city, reported Mayor Sergei Zelensky.

“The utility and energy workers are still at the sites. They are doing everything possible, but it has not been possible to restore the water supply yet – all efforts are now focused on ensuring that you [residents] have water tomorrow morning when you start getting ready for work,” wrote Zelensky.

According to Zelensky, the largest boiler house in Lozova was disconnected from power, affecting 16,000 subscribers.

“Negative temperatures are still present tonight. All efforts have been made to maintain the networks and provide heat to the people. Without instructions from the utility companies, I ask you not to interfere with the in-house networks,” Zelensky wrote.

Head of the Zolochiv community Viktor Kovalenko reported that a Russian “shahed” drone hit the roof of the Dozhan Cultural House around 17:45, causing damage to the building and some items stored inside.

Zelensky reported this morning that the rescue utility workers had restored the water supply to the Lozova community, noting that the pressure was being equalised this morning so that water can also be provided to the upper floors of buildings.

Damage was caused to the power grids in the Oskol community of the Izium district as a result of strikes, as well as a recreation base in the Bucephalus settlement in the Lozova district.

Rescuers from the Kharkiv Animal Rescue were involved in evacuating animals from the front line regions when a Russian drone hit their vehicle, but thankfully no injuries were caused.

Kharkiv Animal Rescue said in a statement: “Our car was hit by an enemy FPV drone during the evacuation of animals. We are working in Kindrativka, a village just before Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka. We saw it in time and managed to stop and get out of the car.

“At that moment, it caught up with us. The drone completely penetrated our roof, front seats, rear window, severely damaged the windshield, deformed the doors, and completely smashed 7 boxes. No one was injured.”

According to the volunteers, 21 animals were rescued during the operation, including five puppies.
