One person killed and six others injured as Russia damage Odessa’s ports and energy overnight

Russia killed one person and left another seven injured following strikes in Odessa overnight, three of whom are in a critical condition in hospital, reported Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to Kuleba, a company’s infrastructure, fertiliser warehouse, and vehicles, including freight wagons, were damaged, while a fire also broke out and rescue efforts attempted to mitigate the consequences as services worked at the site this morning.

Head of the Odessa City Military Administration Sergei Lysak stated that civilian infrastructure and housing stock had been damaged in the city.

There was a hit recorded on a multi-story building on the upper floors, while a recreational infrastructure facility was damaged, along with fires breaking out in outbuildings.

In another part of the city, a fire broke out at a commercial facility due to the attack, reported the Head of the Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper, who also clarified that there was damage caused to industrial, energy, and port infrastructure, and further info would be released later.

As investigators assessed damage in different parts of the city, it also became known about further damage to civil infrastructure along with a car service in the city, but rescuers quickly extinguished the fires at both sites, although nothing could be done at a nearby gymnasium or kindergarten which suffered from damage as a result of the blast wave.

Near the fire at the car dealership, damage was caused to parked cars that were nearby, along with garage boxes, and an energy facility, which was the likely target, as  more than 90 rescuers were involved  with extinguishing the blaze.

DTEK confirmed that another energy facility in Odessa had been hit last night, and noted that the facility had suffered significant damage.
