Belgorod situational update for the previous 48 hours

Belgorod’s situational update for the past 48 hours includes a lot of damage and casualties, reported by various local channels including Pepel and Belgorod1, as well as directly from Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov and City Mayor Valentin Demidov.

Residents of the village of Volchya Alexandronovka in the Volokonovsky district had been left without electricity for a period of time following a drone attack on an electrical substation, but power was reconnected through other supplies soon after.

MLRS and drones continued to attack the Belgorod region throughout the morning of January 26, leading to a fire breaking out from the debris of a falling drone in the Razumnoe settlement, with emergency services soon arriving to deal with the consequences.

Damage was caused to the building of Razumensky Secondary School No 1 following a reported crash, and the courtyard of a residential building at 12 Belgina Street was also cordoned off.

An FPV drone attacked a car in the village of Gora-Podol, resulting in a barotrauma to a man who independently sought help at the hospital, even though his car was damaged due to the impact, along with the windows in an apartment of a multi-story building nearby.

Meanwhile, an attack with an FPV drone in the village of Golovchino caused a man to suffer from a closed head injury and barotrauma, while the car that the victim was sitting in had completely burned, confirmed by Governor Gladkov in a later report of an attack on a truck.

In the afternoon it was reported that the air defence systems had been activated for the sixth time in the day, with 10 explosions heard in the sky as well as traces of missiles being shot down, which could be seen from the Tomarovka settlement in the Yakovlevsky district, located around 30km from the city.

According to Pepel, the missile strike had been carried out on the air defence positions in the Yakovlevsky district, causing damage to a launcher, while a secondary detonation of the ammunition occurred after the attack which was observed by local residents, as Governor Gladkov reported that a soldier from Orlan had suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to the legs.

Another soldier from Orlan sought help at the hospital following the missile strike, where doctors diagnosed the soldier with a mine-explosive injury and a tangential shrapnel wound to the back.

Meanwhile, residents of the Yakovlevsky district were filming the missiles as they flew through the sky, noting that at least six or seven had been observed either flying past or being intercepted.

Local Telegram channels began to report the death of a man in Shebekino following a drone attack, which was later confirmed by Governor Gladkov.

Attacks continued throughout January 27 on the border region, leading to three people, including a seven-year-old girl, being injured in the village of Novostroevka-First which is in the Grayvoronsky district.

According to the reports, a drone attacked workers of an enterprise that were engaged in restoration work, causing barotrauma and a bone bruise to one of the men, while the other man suffered barotrauma, and a car was damaged on the spot by the impact.

Another drone exploded near a private house in the village of Zamostye, causing barotrauma to a seven-year-old girl, while the explosion damaged the windows of a house and shrapnel damaged a car parked nearby.

Videos published by various Telegram channels on the morning of January 28 showed a drone attack on Russian military personnel in the Borisovsky district, as the first video showed how one drone attacked a group of three military personnel who were trying to intercept the UAV with small arms.

After that, the drone noticed a soldier who had fled for cover in a shed and struck the building, which caught fire from the explosion and eventually burned down completely.

Another FPV drone attacked a nearby house which a soldier had been seen entering, and according to the geolocation by OSINTers, the videos were shot in the village of Gruzskoe in the Boriskovsky district.

Authorities had blocked the Grayvoron-Golovchino route in the Grayvoron district due to the constant threat of FPV drones using fiber optics to target vehicles, as Dmitry Pankov asked motorists to use alternative routes until a favourable operation situation arose.
