AJ News often takes a regional tour of Ukraine, assessing the casualties and damage reports issued by the regional governors and other key officials, which have resulted because of Russian aggression in the previous 24 hours.
Before the tour of the regions, it’s important to note that the second round of talks are due to take place today, and Zelensky has stated he is ready to meet Putin in Geneva, asking his team to make the arrangements, while also confirming an election may take place despite just a one-day ceasefire offered by Putin.
Multiple reports surfaced yesterday that US and Dutch veterans were flying F16s in the Ukrainian Air Force, having formed an elite team that was taking down missiles and drones on a a daily basis, which the Air Force didn’t refute for some time because they wanted to “study this reaction” from Russia about the fake news, according to spokesperson for the Air Force Yuri Ignat.
Ukrainian air defence forces eliminated 100 Russian drones overnight, noting that Russia launched 126 drones of the Shahed, Geran, Italma and other types over the skies of Ukraine.
According to the Air Force, impacts were recorded from the Iskander-M ballistic missile and 23 strike drones at 14 locations, as well as debris in another three.
DNIPROPETROVSK:
A 54-year-old man died as a result of an attack in the Marganets community in the Nikopol district, damaging many multistory buildings, a dormitory, over 30 private houses and outbuildings, a transport company and a fire station, reported Governor Alexander Ganja.
Ganja also noted a car fire in the Petropavlovsk community of Synelnykove, and a damaged house in the Grushivsk community of Kryvyi Rih, noting later that an Iskander ballistic missile fired from Crimea once again targeted transport infrastructure.
Governor Ganja noted that Russia attacked communities with artillery and drones 50 times throughout the day.
Last night 11 private houses were damaged in the Nikopol district, along with farm buildings and a car, while damage was caused to a private enterprise, housing, an administrative building, a gymnasium and private cars in the Pavlohrad district.
DONETSK:
Three people were killed and two more injured following Russian attacks on the Mykolaivka district yesterday, reported Regional Governor Vadim Filashkin.
Last night at around 9pm, Russia launched a combined attack on Sloviansk using Geran-2s and FPVs, resulting in damage to private houses, the hangar of an enterprise, and a food base, reported Head of Sloviansk city administration Vadim Lakh.
KHERSON:
Yesterday in the Kherson community, damage was caused to critical infrastructure, resulting in no electricity in the Dnieper district of the city, while there were also water supply issues in the KhBK area and central parts of the city by the evening, reported Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
Six people were injured over the course of the day as Russia attacked six populated areas of the city (30 populated areas overall). damaging private houses and multistory buildings, three educational institutions, a hospital, civilian vehicles, a bank branch and power lines.
KHARKIV:
According to the Head of the Zolochiv Community Viktor Kovalenko, Russia attacked Lutivka at around 13:30 with FPV drones, resulting in a direct hit to a car belonging to an agricultural enterprise being destroyed, while at 15:30, a private house and a car were destroyed as a result of drone strikes.
At approximately 15:00, an FPV drone hit a private residence in the village of Komissarovo in the Kupiansk district, resulting in a 66-year-old woman being killed, reported the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The Izium Municipal Police reported that a Molniya-type drone hit the yard of a private residence at around 15:40, with no casualties caused.
Kharkiv City Mayor Igor Terekhov reported that a drone fell in the Industrial district of Kharkiv yesterday, and Governor Oleg Sinegubov stated that the drone hit “its target” at 16:45, resulting in no casualties.
Last night a Geran-3 drone attacked the Solonitsa community, damaging windows of a residential building, reported the press service of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Russia also struck the territory of the Malodanilovskaya community last night, damaging the windows of a private residence, reported the Head of the Community Alexander Golobov.
Around 28,000 subscribers remained without power in Lozova as a result of the Russian attack on the night of February 17th, reported City Mayor Sergei Zelensky, noting that three missiles and four strike drones had targeted the community in an attack that lasted six hours.
MYKOLAIV:
Explosions were heard in Mykolaiv last night as drones struck houses in the private sector, reported the Mykolaiv Regional Office, noting that a fire broke out and one private house was destroyed, while the blast wave damaged seven more houses, but there were no casualties.
SUMY:
Six civilians were injured as a result of an attack by a drone in Bilopillia yesterday, reported the City Mayor Yuriy Zarko, noting that two men aged 52 and 39 were hospitalised, and damage was caused to a critical infrastructure object.
In a second attack on the Berezivska community, a 46-year-old man was injured as a result of a drone hitting a building of an enterprise and was hospitalised, noted Zarko.
Another drone strike in Krykivka resulted in Vasily Kolodyazhny’s house being destroyed, along with a summer kitchen, a garage and a barn, while the man’s neighbour also suffered similar damage – one person was killed in the attack on the village, and another man suffered burns and was admitted to hospital.
Governor Oleg Grigorov reported a total of 11 injuries as a result of drone strikes in the Sumy city throughout the day by the Italma drones used in the morning attack.
Last night, Governor Grigorov updated the injured number to 11, noting that a 28-year-old woman remained in hospital while the others were treated as outpatients.
Damage was caused to 11 residential buildings and 8 non-residential buildings, smashing more than 200 windows in the non-residential buildings and more than 120 windows in the residential buildings, reported the city council.
Explosions were reported throughout the morning by a barista from a local cafe named Vlada Konyk, noting at least 3 explosions between 10:15am and 11:14am yesterday, while other explosions were reported in the area later in the afternoon.
ZAPORIZHZHIA:
Six people were reported to be injured by a drone strike which hit a residential building in the city, including two children who needed medical assistance, but all were being treated at the scene, reported Governor Ivan Fedorov.
Damage was caused to balconies, road surfaces and non-residential buildings along with smashed windows in several properties, reported Fedorov.
Fedorov’s morning report included one person killed and seven injured as Russia carried out 638 airstrikes on 40 populated areas of the region.
Russia carried out 22 airstrikes, 448 strikes with various types of UAVs, 5 attacks from MLRS and 163 artillery strikes, resulting in 136 reports of damage to cars, housing and infrastructure.
