Residents of Dnipro began circulating a media via social media networks on February 19, showing a conflict on a city bus between representatives of the TCC accompanied by law enforcement and passengers – according to the driver, tear gas was used on the bus.
Ukraine’s regional TCC and SP held a briefing about the incident on February 20, where spokeswoman Olena Kuzina noted that a civilian used tear gas in a minibus: “It was not the RTCC and SP representatives who used tear gas in the minibus, but a civilian who tried to fight back.”
Suspilne Public Broadcasting got in touch with the driver who was working on the route at the time, noting that the driver said off camera how he felt fine.
According to the driver, there was a mobile checkpoint behind the route – representatives of the TCC, together with the police, stopped the bus to check the men’s documents – the driver said he didn’t see who exactly used the canister, because there was a crowd of people, but said that he only heard screams and the smell of gas.
Other reports about tear gas being discharged include teacher tear gas that was sprayed on a minibus in Dnipro on February 13th when a conflict arose between a minibus driver and a group of TCK security officers in Osinnaya street.
As a result of the dispute, the two TCC servicemen in the minibus used physical force and tear gas against the driver, leading to them being charged with hooliganism.
