Warning by US Envoy of potential collapse of the Gaza ceasefire deal
➡️ UN Envoy Nickolay Mladenov warned of a potential collapse of the Gaza ceasefire, while also explaining the imminent deployment of mechanisms that had been discussed for the International Stabilisation Force (ISF).
🔹 “My warning about the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza is directed at both the Palestinian and Israeli sides,” stressed Mladenov, stating that there is no better alternative than the current plan regarding the Gaza Strip, and a return to war would be devastating.
🔹 Mladenov said: “We have defined the mechanism for deploying the ISF and its deployment locations in the Gaza Strip,” noting that an agreement had been reached with Morocco to participate in the ISF force in Gaza, while Turkey will not participate: “The vanguard of the ISF should arrive in the Gaza Strip soon,” he added.
🔹 Explaining more about the reconstruction funding, regional mediation, and humanitarian coordination, Mladenov said: “Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey played an important role in pushing the agreement with Hamas forward, [and] we hope that the National Committee will assume its duties in the Gaza Strip soon.”
🔹 Mladenov concluded saying: “We are conducting good talks with the Israeli side regarding increasing the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.”
