⚡️ Pentagon Announce UAV Counter-Defence Integration Roadmap with Kuwait
➡️ High-ranking officials from the US and Washington convened at the US Department of Defence for the 16th US-Kuwait Joint Military Commission, which established new operational frameworks to boost bilateral interoperability.
🔹 Co-chaired by Pentagon Middle East official Mike DiMino and Kuwaiti Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Khaled al-Shriann, the high-level talks focused on heavily expanding maritime security, enhancing integrated air and missile defence architectures, and mitigating threats posed by the proliferation of drones and unmanned aerial systems.
🔹 The diplomatic and defence agreements build upon recent US arms approvals, including an almost $2 billion acquisition of advanced counter-drone systems from Anduril Industries – designed to safeguard regional allies following prior regional flare-ups like the one that damaged the Kuwaiti Airport Terminal 1 just prior to the arrangement being agreed.
🔹 Additionally, the Pentagon announced that Kuwait had officially joined the US Department of Defence State Partnership Program, establishing a long-term cooperative pairing with the Maryland National Guard to further solidify bilateral defence readiness.
