⚡️ Defence Minister Katz responded to US Envoy Tom Barrack’s criticism
➡️ Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz responded to comments and criticism made by US Envoy Tom Barrack overnight in relation to Syria, as the Defence Minister attempted to defend the decision to strike the Abu al-Duhur airfield.
🔹 “The IDF recommended several times carrying out a strike on the Abu al-Duhur airfield in Syria, in light of clear intelligence received regarding Turkiye’s intentions to conduct activities that would endanger the security of the State of Israel.
🔹 “Following several discussions that the Prime Minister and I have held with the IDF and various security officials, it was agreed that, before authorisation was granted, a direct warning would be conveyed to the Syrian regime at the highest levels in an attempt to prevent the move, and this was indeed done, and at the same time, the intelligence was conveyed to the relevant authorities in the United States.
🔹 “After the appeal went unanswered, the Prime Minister and I authorised the IDF to carry out the strike, and it was successfully completed – Erdogan was caught with his hand in the cookie jar and was forced to back down.
🔹 “We will not allow any party to endanger the security of the State of Israel, and we will act against every threat, as we also did today in Syria – this is the central lesson from the events of October 7.
🔹 “The attempt by opposition figures and parts of the media to portray the operation in Syria in political terms stems from a combination of ignorance, a lack of understanding of Israel’s security interests, and a constant desire to attack the government – and deserves every condemnation.
🔹 “The response by US envoy Barrack is full of inaccuracies and positions that contradict those of US President Trump himself regarding the Golan Heights.”
