Odessa, Ukraine: Attacks by Russia targeted civilian infrastructure and a warehouse

Russia attacked Odessa with strike drones during the night, damaging residential infrastructure and causing fires to break out, reported Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper.

As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in the roof of a multi-story building in one of the districts, while a gas pipeline was also damaged, and fires were reported to cars and a non-residential building, reported Head of the City Military Administration Sergei Lysak.

All emergency services had attended the scene, and information about any victims was being clarified, Lysak added.

Lysak later confirmed that a 36-year-old man had been killed, and two people injured, including a 19-year-old girl.

Damage had also been recorded to the civilian infrastructure in the Primorsky district, which included 21 apartments, while the blast wave had broken windows, two nearby cars had been destroyed by a fire, and six others were damaged by debris.

Odessa State Emergency Services stated damage had also been caused to a fitness club, along with the glazing of nearby buildings, and damage had been caused to a three-story address that wasn’t in operation.

Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this morning that a 36-year-old man had been killed, while a 19-year-old girl and a 43-year-old man had been injured and admitted to hospital, as investigators considered the possibility of war crimes.

According to Oleg Kiper, the woman admitted to hospital last night had already been discharged from the hospital, but the man remained under medical supervision, and law enforcement officers were investigating the death of the 36-year-old man.

Kiper also confirmed that the attack by Russia also targeted an industrial facility, and as a result of the fire, nearly 200 tons of combustion products were released into the air, causing damages totalling more than 602,000 hryvnias.
